In my experience, the jury ends up being comprised of people that the two attorneys believe are senseless. Anyone with an opinion one way or the other is out.
Shoot, just pretending you have an opinion can get you kicked.
That's the net result because one side wants people who think a certain way and the other side wants people who think the opposite way, so you end up with people who don't think at all.
I've been called three times but got cut twice when they ask if you have relatives in law enforcement. The third time the crime was so petty and the lawyers so incompetent and careless they didn't ask so i served. That was an interesting experience.
