Singling out vegans misses the important point. There plenty of bizarre ways people express their conflicts and unsatisfied appetites. To lead a satisfying and effective life you have to uncover the causes of obsessive behavior and find strategies to deal with instinctive impulses in constructive ways. Compulsive performances such as veganism get in the way of authentic living.

Names don't bother me, the sad thing is when people don't want to search for the truth about their motivations. How are you ever going to get a grip of your life unless you see how letting your emotions drive you is like putting a three-year old in charge. Getting angry with those who hold up a mirror is just a symptom of that.

The moral quality of veganism is a pretense. This is clearly shown by the fact that vegans do not care about very small animals or about animals killed as a consequence of their lifestyle or about animals which are a nuisance to them (provided said animals are small and unappealing e.g. ticks, fleas, mosquitoes). A true moral stance against the killing of animals must include all these and more, otherwise it's really more of an elaborated, systematized aesthetic revulsion against killing or abusing animals which trigger human nurturing instincts.
